Trap
Falls Kennel Club helps Newtown get their K-9 Officer
Saint Michael
('Saint', for short) was sworn in Thursday, September 19th at the
Municipal Offices in Newtown, as the new Police Department's K-9
officer.
Trap Falls
Kennel Club was responsible for spearheading the funding for the 2-year
old German Shepherd from Hungary. The Club helped raise over $14,000
toward the purchase and training of this special dog. Taxpayers' money
and town budgets are not usually earmarked for K-9 officers, but they
work tirelessly with their human handlers in tracking criminals down,
and search and recovery, and rescue. Trap Falls reached out to other
kennel clubs across Connecticut to help with this fundraising effort.
Newtown Kennel Club and Farmington Kennel Club were among the many
clubs who contributed to the Newtown K-9 fund. The (AKC) American
Kennel Club's Reunite division matched funding to help make the
purchase and training of Saint a reality. |
